Abstract Background The complexity of infection in malaria-endemic areas is exacerbated by the presence genetically diverse Plasmodium falciparum strains. There a risk that more virulent or drug-resistant versions disease may arise. Therefore, we reviewed most reported molecular markers have been detailed to date Nigeria. Main body abstract In this review, summarized genetic diversity P. Nigeria using two well-reported genes ( msp1 and msp2) as biomarkers. review includes findings obtained from research conducted all major geopolitical regions country. We found MSP-2 generally moderate high North-central region. However, South-West, there were several where multiplicity (MOI) was either low extremely high. Conclusion Understanding how Nigeria's malaria situation fits into various reports on variation can improve treatment immunization options. This will be helpful for future strategies would tailored specific needs populations.
