چکیده
Abstract Background The complexity of infection in malaria-endemic areas is exacerbated by the presence genetically diverse Plasmodium falciparum strains. There a risk that more virulent or drug-resistant versions disease may arise. Therefore, we reviewed most reported molecular markers have been detailed to date Nigeria. Main body abstract In this review, summarized genetic diversity P. Nigeria using two well-reported genes ( msp1 and msp2) as biomarkers. review includes findings obtained from research conducted all major geopolitical regions country. We found MSP-2 generally moderate high North-central region. However, South-West, there were several where multiplicity (MOI) was either low extremely high. Conclusion Understanding how Nigeria's malaria situation fits into various reports on variation can improve treatment immunization options. This will be helpful for future strategies would tailored specific needs populations.

BACKGROUND Plasmodium falciparum the main causative agent of malaria is an important public health vector. With the use of PCR, its genetic diversity has been extensively studied with dearth information from Nigeria. METHODS In this study, 100 P. falciparum strains merozoite surface protein 1(msp-1), merozoite surface protein 2 (msp-2) and Glutamate rich protein (Glurp) from Ogun State Genera...

Malaria is a major health problem, with over one third of Background worldwide populations currently at risk. Determining the genetic diversity of plasmodium parasites is essential for assessing the efficacy of antimalarial drugs and for future vaccine development. This study investigated the genetic diversity of merozoite surface protein 2 (MSP2), and multiplicity of P. falciparum infection ...

Abstract Background and Objectives: Plasmodium falciparum merozoite surface protein-1 (PfMSP-1) is a promising vaccine against malaria during its blood stages which play an important role in immunity to this disease. Polymorphic nature of this gene is a major obstacle in making an effective vaccine against malaria. In this study, the genetic diversity of Plasmodi...

OBJECTIVE To analyse the genetic diversity of Plasmodium falciparum (P. falciparum) using msp-1 and msp-2 as antigenic markers. METHODS Parasite DNA was extracted from 100 blood samples collected from P. falciparum-positive patients confirmed by microscopy, and followed by PCR-genotyping targeting the msp-1 (block2) and msp-2 (block 3) allelic families. RESULTS All the families of msp-1 (K1...
متن کاملMitochondrial genome sequence diversity of Indian Plasmodium falciparum isolates
We have analysed the whole mitochondrial (mt) genome sequences (each ~6 kilo nucleotide base pairs in length) of four field isolates of the malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum collected from different locations in India. Comparative genomic analyses of mt genome sequences revealed three novel India-specific single nucleotide polymorphisms. In general, high mt genome diversity was found in In...
